Alec Bohm’s seventh year with the Philadelphia Phillies has been disastrous. The 29-year-old third baseman signed a one-year, $10.2 million contract this past offseason to avoid salary arbitration. He is in the final year of team control.
Bohm was a strong performer in 2024, when he was an All-Star. In 2025, however, he took a step back at the plate.
The Phillies decided to keep him in the mix this past winter rather than trade him with hopes he could return to form. However, he has not delivered.
Bohm has played in 34 games this season and has posted a .161 batting average, .230 on-base percentage and .440 OPS, with just one home run and 15 RBIs. His numbers rank among the worst for everyday hitters this season, highlighting just how much he has struggled at the plate.

Interim manager Don Mattingly was asked Tuesday by reporters whether the team is considering making a change at the hot corner. Mattingly decided that would not be the case on Wednesday.
“Whenever that is, it’s not now," Mattingly said. "I’ve seen Alec. He’s another big sample, he’s always hit. Smaller sample, he’s not hitting right now. And I think last year he may have started out slowly also. So it’s not like this is totally out of the norm."
"Obviously, he doesn’t wanna struggle, we don’t want him to struggle. But from my standpoint, I’m confident in him bouncing back.” (h/t Todd Zolecki of MLB.com)
The former first-round pick out of Wichita State and one-time All-Star is struggling at a terrible time, with free agency looming in the offseason.
As Philadelphia tries to climb out of its early-season hole, pressure is mounting for Bohm to turn it around.
