Philadelphia Phillies' star Kyle Schwarber signed a five-year, $150 million contract with the team this past offseason. Now, he gets to celebrate the All-Star festivities at home.
Following teammate Bryce Harper’s announcement on Thursday that he will compete in the 2026 Home Run Derby, Kyle Schwarber confirmed Friday that he’ll be joining the field as well.
During the 2025 All-Star break in Atlanta, Schwarber made it clear he wanted a shot at the Home Run Derby in Philadelphia the following season. That dream is about to become a reality.
The now four-time All-Star currently leads Major League Baseball in home runs with 32 in only 90 games, following a season where he hit 56.
After stealing the show last season in Atlanta during his All-Star game winning "swing-off" performance, Schwarber will compete in the Home Run Derby for the third time in his career.
In 2018, Schwarber lost in the finals to none other than Bryce Harper in Washington.
In 2022, he was knocked out in the first round by Albert Pujols in Los Angeles.
This year will set up a potential rematch against Harper at Citizens Bank Park.
With Schwarber's announcement on Friday, there is now only one remaining spot for the derby.
With the men already in being: Phillies' Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper, Rays' Junior Caminero, Yankees' Ben Rice, Royals' Jac Caglianone, Red Sox's Willson Contreras and Cardinals' Jordan Walker.
It is sure to be a fantastic showing in Philadelphia with the game's biggest sluggers involved.
