The Philadelphia Eagles did not generate a quarterback pressure on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott until the fourth quarter of Monday night’s 38-21 loss, according to Locked On Eagles host Louie DiBiase. DiBiase called it the worst performance of defensive coordinator Vic Fangio’s tenure, saying a shorthanded offense kept Philadelphia competitive while the defense surrendered control of a pivotal NFC East game.
DiBiase cited 38 points, 416 yards, a 78% opposing scoring rate and 4.2 points per Dallas possession as telling stats from the defeat. The Cowboys got four touchdowns and three field goals over nine possessions, while the Eagles forced no turnovers and received no sacks or quarterback hits from their defensive line.
The host focused most sharply on a front seven he said carries more than $300 million in investment. Eagles edge rushers Jonathan Greenard and Jalyx Hunt, along with defensive tackles Jordan Davis and Moro Ojomo, did not disrupt Prescott enough to change the game’s shape, DiBiase said. He also noted that Philadelphia was without edge rusher Nolan Smith Jr., but argued one missing starter did not explain the collapse.
DiBiase said the performance raises longer-term questions for GM Howie Roseman beyond the offense, which had commanded much of the club’s attention before Monday. He suggested the Eagles could need another premium edge player or interior pass rusher, even with the 2027 NFL Draft and future contract decisions still ahead.
Philadelphia fell to 2-5 with its fifth consecutive loss, and DiBiase said he no longer sees a credible Super Bowl path. He argued Roseman should consider a future-focused approach before the Nov. 10 trade deadline, while using the final 10 games to determine which younger players belong in the next version of the roster.
Eagles News and Notes
– Quarterback Tanner McKee gave the offense a steadier night, DiBiase said, completing 23 of 35 passes for 211 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He credited offensive coordinator Sean Mannion’s run-game emphasis, play-action calls and varied personnel packages for helping an undermanned group score on its opening drive of the third quarter.
– Eagles wide receiver Makai Lemon had seven catches for 67 yards and his first career touchdown, according to DiBiase. The host viewed Lemon’s work over the middle of the field as a meaningful evaluation point for an offense searching for young building blocks.
