Pete Crow-Armstrong finished his 2026 season by setting a new Statcast standard for outfield defense.

The Chicago Cubs center fielder recorded a plus-27 Fielding Run Value, giving him the best single-season mark by an outfielder since Statcast tracking began in 2015.

MLB Stats highlighted the achievement after the conclusion of the regular season, adding another notable accomplishment to Crow-Armstrong’s standout year.

Crow-Armstrong finished the season with 25 Outs Above Average and a plus-27 Fielding Run Value. His defensive work in center field was a major part of his overall production for Chicago.

He also put together a strong season at the plate, finishing with a .280/.372/.570 slash line, 45 home runs, 107 RBI, 119 runs and 41 stolen bases. He added 31 doubles and eight triples while appearing in all 162 games.

Crow-Armstrong also became the first player in Cubs history to reach the 40-40 mark. His 45 home runs and 41 stolen bases made him just the seventh player in MLB history to reach the milestone.

He also became the first primary center fielder in MLB history to record at least 40 home runs, 30 doubles and 30 stolen bases in the same season.

The Cubs finished the regular season 90-72 and earned the No. 5 seed in the National League. They will travel to San Diego for a best-of-three Wild Card Series against the Padres.

Crow-Armstrong now heads into October after putting together a season that combined major offensive production with a historic defensive performance, highlighted by the best Fielding Run Value recorded by an outfielder since Statcast tracking began.
