It was another disappointing season for the New Orleans Pelicans as they finished the year 11th in the Western Conference standings with a 26-56 record, missing the playoffs for the second consecutive season.
Of course, New Orleans has been stuck in a rebuild over the past handful of seasons and while the team has built a solid young core led by Zion Williamson, Trey Murphy III, Derik Queen and Jeremiah Fears, they may elect to make major changes to their roster this offseason.

Because of this, multiple players on the Pelicans’ roster have been in trade rumors to begin the offseason, including Murphy III and Herbert Jones, who have both been the subject of trade rumors over the past few seasons.
In a report released Tuesday, New Orleans' asking price for Jones in trade talks was revealed, and it is a steep price for other franchises.

According to The Stein Line’s Jake Fischer, the Pelicans want two first-round picks in trade talks surrounding Jones.
This is a massive report by Fischer and also a steep asking price for Jones, which may cause other teams around the NBA to look elsewhere to upgrade their wing depth.
For Jones, he has emerged into one of the league’s top young 3-and-D wings, though he is coming off arguably the worst season of his five-year NBA career.

Last season, the 27-year-old forward averaged 8.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 38.3% from the field and 30.9% from three.
Of course, injuries limited Jones to just 56 games last season, which may help explain his declining production, though injuries have been an issue for him over the past few seasons as he played only 20 games during the 2024-25 campaign.
Due to his drop in production and injury problems over the past few seasons, the Pelicans’ asking price for him in trade talks may be too high for many teams around the league, though there have been multiple franchises linked to the 27-year-old forward in trade rumors.

Because of this, New Orleans may need to drop their asking price for him if they do want to move him or they may elect to keep him on their roster and fight for a playoff spot next season with their young core.
Either way, it appears it will not be cheap for other teams to acquire the young forward from New Orleans, which could cause his trade market to take a major hit this offseason.
