Paul Finebaum Urges SEC To Kick LSU, Lane Kiffin Out Of Conference

ESPN personality Paul Finebaum wasted no time firing off hot takes during Week 1 of the college football season.

While on “SEC Nation” this Saturday morning, Finebaum shared his thoughts on all the drama involving LSU and NFL players returning to college football. Kiffin caused quite the uproar when he added tight end Dae’Quan Wright and defensive tackle Zxavian Harris to his 2026 roster. They spent training camp with the Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints, respectively.

The SEC later announced that players who have signed contracts with an NFL or professional football team won’t be allowed to play in their conference. Wright and Harris were cleared this week, however, due to a judge’s injunction.

So how does Finebaum feel about this situation? He believes LSU’s coach is acting like a child.

“We can all wrap our arms around Lane Kiffin and say he’s lovable and he’s a great coach,” Finebaum said. “But in the end, he’s a child. He’s a 51-year-old man behaving like a 16-year-old.”

Finebaum also suggested the SEC should kick Kiffin and LSU out of the conference.

“I know it’s not going to happen, and it probably shouldn’t happen, but if the presidents of the SEC took a vote today, they very well might vote to kick LSU out of the league,” Finebaum continued. “I can tell you, fans out there would not be the least bit upset by it.”

Will LSU let Harris and Wright play?

Despite all the drama surrounding Wright and Harris, neither player will compete against Clemson this Saturday night.

“LSU has made a measured decision to keep these two young men off the roster for now while preserving a path for them to be added later,” attorney Ryan Downton said in a statement. “Everyone should use that space to lower the temperature and look at the facts.”

We’ll see if Kiffin fires back at Finebaum either before or after Saturday’s season opener.
