New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye continues to show that - whether he's the league's best QB or not - he's a really, really good guy.
On Tuesday, Maye was a guest at the Saving by Shaving event benefitting the Boston Children's Hospital. As part of a philanthropy event, Maye shaved his head live in front of the audience, trading those signature locks for a buzzcut.
"We love kids," Maye told reporters, per ESPN. "They're oftentimes the biggest fans of us players, and I think it's just such a cool experience to be able to shine a positive light and to be there for them and help any way that we can."
Praise for Maye
It's always nice to see someone humble themselves in support of a great cause, so fans across fandoms took to social media to praise Maye for his willingness to do something like that.
"This is how you win on and off the field. Raising money for charity, respect!" one user replied on X.
"It’s very hard not to like this kid and his wife," another fan wrote.
"Thats my QB!" a third declared.

Maye entered the NFL as a highly touted first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, selected by the New England Patriots as the centerpiece of the franchise’s post–Tom Brady rebuild. His rookie season was defined by growth and adjustment, as Maye was asked to operate behind an evolving offensive line with a young supporting cast. While the Patriots endured typical rebuilding struggles, Maye flashed the traits that made him a top prospect—arm strength, mobility, and the ability to make plays outside structure—showing steady improvement as the season progressed and establishing himself as the team’s long-term answer at quarterback.
In his second season, Maye took a noticeable step forward, displaying greater command of the offense, improved decision-making, and more consistent production. With better protection and increased continuity around him, he became more comfortable reading defenses and pushing the ball downfield, while still using his athleticism to extend plays. Though team success remained a work in progress, Maye’s development through his first two NFL seasons positioned him as one of the league’s promising young quarterbacks, offering New England optimism that he could eventually lead the franchise to their first Super Bowl of the post-Tom Brady era.
