Despite being runner-ups in the Super Bowl, there's a case to be made that the New England Patriots will be less potent on offense in 2026 unless they make serious changes at wide receiver. Luckily for them, an opportunity seems to be presenting itself.
According to CBS NFL insider Jonathan Jones, the Patriots "could be a landing spot" for Chicago Bears embattled wide receiver DJ Moore. The Bears are reportedly trying to unload Moore and his massive contract after a thoroughly unproductive season.
In addition to the Patriots, Jones recently mused that the Bears could try to deal him to the Las Vegas Raiders in a blockbuster deal to bring Maxx Crosby into the fold.
Patriots on the Climb?
In 2025, Stefon Diggs emerged as the Patriots' first 1,000-yard receiver since 2019. He played no small role in the team's regular season excellence en route to their first Super Bowl appearance since the Tom Brady days.
However, Diggs is also widely expected to be getting the boot sometime in the near future. With all of the money the Patriots can save by releasing him, they'll have room to bring in someone a little closer to their prime.

Moore has been on a downward slide for the past two seasons. Following a career-high 1,364 yards in 2023, he had 966 yards in 2024 and then a career-low 682 yards in 2025 despite playing every game.
That said, maybe Moore just needs a change of scenery to regain that spark he seems to have lost. Could he find it in New England?
