Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, were not in attendance for the NFL Honors on Thursday night. Unlike in years past, the NFL power couple had no reason to attend the event.
Mahomes has won the AP Most Valuable Player twice in his career. However, he was not nominated this year after the Chiefs’ forgettable season. Kansas City missed the NFL playoffs after finishing with a 6-11 record. This was the first time the Chiefs did not see any playoff action since Mahomes became their starting quarterback in his second season.
Mahomes finished 2025 with 315-of-502 completed passes (62.7%) for 3,587 yards, 22 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He also added 422 yards on the ground and five rushing TDs on 64 carries.

This year’s MVP winner is Matthew Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams. The 37-year-old, who will be celebrating his birthday on Saturday, won the title for the first time in his 17-year NFL career. This is after he led the Rams to a 12-5 record for the No. 5 seed in the NFC.
Stafford played all 17 games in the regular season. He amassed 388-of-597 completed passes (65.0%) to lead the league in passing yards (4,707), yards gained per game (276.9) and touchdowns (46).
When Stafford accepted the MVP award on Thursday night, he brought all four of his daughters on stage. It was an endearing moment for the Rams QB, who expressed how much inspiration he draws from his girls.
The NFL posted a video of a congratulatory message from Stafford’s daughters. In it, the girls shared Stafford’s accomplishments off the field as a dedicated father. The veteran QB could not help but get emotional after seeing the message.
Brittany Mahomes was also emotional after coming across the NFL’s message on Stafford and seeing the video. The post read, “@matthewstafford is an MVP, but he’s always been a dad first 🥲”
Brittany Mahomes was left in tears.
“Okay crying omg😭😭😭😭” she commented, tagging Stafford’s wife, Kelly Stafford.

Brittany and Patrick Mahomes are dedicated parents who have made many sacrifices for their children. To a certain extent, she knows exactly what Matthew and Kelly Stafford have been through with their kids amid the Rams star’s demanding NFL career.
Patrick Mahomes may have missed out on another MVP win this year, but his wife is clearly happy for the Staffords’ incredible achievement — both on and off the field.
