The Kansas City Chiefs improved to 3-0 with a 24-10 win Sunday over the Miami Dolphins in the team’s first road game of the season. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes was on point, going 20-for-24 for 246 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He completed his first 11 passes, and the string was broken up by a dropped pass that was tipped up in the air and into the defender’s arms.
Through three games and 110 dropbacks, he has 812 passing yards (fifth) and seven touchdowns (fifth) against two interceptions. He improved three spots as Pro Football Focus has ranked him No. 1 among quarterbacks in Week 4.
PFF’s Top Ranked QBs for Week 4
- Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
- Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
- Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
- Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
His 91.4 PFF grade is the second-best mark in the league through three weeks, and his 90.2 PFF passing grade ranks second. He recorded six big-time throws and one turnover-worthy play, which reflects his decision-making under pressure. On the ground, Mahomes has 45 scramble yards and one rushing touchdown. He earned a 74.6 rushing grade, which is eighth among 28 qualified quarterbacks.
Mahomes was not sacked in Week 3 as Miami remains the only team without a sack. The Chiefs have been without starting left tackle Josh Simmons (back), who remained out of practice Wednesday. The team revealed he’s dealing with a bulging disc in his back, which is sapping strength from his legs.
The Chiefs fly to Sin City to face the Las Vegas Raiders (3-0) in an AFC West showdown Sunday afternoon.
