The Kansas City Chiefs have put together a dream start to their 2026 NFL season, entering Week 7 with a perfect 5-0 record. The Chiefs will travel to the Pacific Northwest to face the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field on Sunday Night Football.
After a disappointing 6-11 season in 2025, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have returned to the elite form that fans had grown accustomed to. A major reason for that success has been the immediate impact of running back Kenneth Walker III. After signing with the Chiefs in free agency on a three-year, $43,050,000 contract, Walker has completely transformed the running game in Kansas City.

In his first five games with Kansas City, Walker has rushed for 665 yards and six touchdowns, the most rushing yards ever in a player’s first five games with a new team. He is averaging 6.3 yards per carry, leading all running backs. Walker has also made an impact in the passing game, catching 14 passes for 95 yards and two touchdowns.
Now, Walker is preparing for one of the most meaningful games of his career, as the Chiefs travel to Seattle for a Sunday night matchup against his former team.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes understands the significance of the matchup. Charles Goldman of AtoZ Sports shared a quote from Mahomes, saying, “I know it’s going to be a special moment for him… You get to go back to a place where you built your career and won a Super Bowl… at the end of the day, you’ve got to win a football game… He knows we’ve got his back.”
Walker spent the first four seasons of his career in Seattle after being selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Through his four seasons with the Seahawks, Walker rushed for 3,555 yards and 29 touchdowns. His Seahawks tenure also included a legendary 2025 playoff run, capped off by earning Super Bowl LX MVP honors in a win against the New England Patriots.
Walker will now return to Lumen Field wearing a Chiefs uniform, and he will do so in the middle of one of the hottest stretches of his career.
