Patrick Mahomes is finally back on the field for the Kansas City Chiefs.
The star quarterback made his highly anticipated return after suffering a season-ending injury in which he tore both his ACL and LCL. He missed the last three games of the 2025 season, and he spent the offseason rehabbing his knee.
After a 6-11 finish, the Chiefs missed the postseason last year for the first time since 2014. They are now looking to return to the postseason with Mahomes back in the fold.
In their first game of the 2026 NFL season, the Chiefs dominated their division rivals, the Denver Broncos, at Arrowhead Stadium. The four-time Super Bowl champions secured their first win of the season with a convincing 31-10 victory on Monday night.
Mahomes performed well in his first game back. The three-time Super Bowl MVP completed 15-of-27 passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns. He also had seven carries for 23 yards and a rushing TD.
After the game, the Chiefs quarterback sent a heartfelt message on X. It included a promise to Chiefs fans about what’s to come this season now that he’s back.
“Want to give all glory and thanks to God. Letting me be out there doing what i love again! ChiefsKingdom this is just the start see yall next week! 🙏🏽⏰,” he posted.
Kansas City will host the Indianapolis Colts at Arrowhead Stadium for their Week 2 matchup on Sunday. Mahomes and Co. will aim to keep their early momentum going as they look to go up 2-0 to start the new NFL season.
