The Kansas City Chiefs improved to 4-0 with a 30-27 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, a matchup of two undefeated AFC West teams at Allegiant Stadium.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns, while running back Kenneth Walker III rushed for 177 yards with two touchdowns on 22 attempts. Wide receiver Tyquan Thornton had five receptions for 111 yards and two touchdowns.
Thornton’s big day ended late in the fourth quarter when he suffered a left ankle injury on a 55-yard reception from Mahomes with 3:18 left in the game. He was carted off the field, and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Thornton dislocated his ankle and will undergo a full evaluation on Monday.

“He’s one of the best teammates I’ve ever had,” Mahomes said of Thornton, according to Sam McDowell of the Kansas City Star.
Thornton’s injury is another blow to the Chiefs’ receiving group, which also saw Rashee Rice leave with a hamstring injury in the first quarter. Kansas City now heads into its bye week at 4-0.
Kansas City head coach Andy Reid said postgame that the injury to Thornton “didn’t look good.”
Thornton, 26, is in his second season with the Chiefs after spending his first three seasons with the New England Patriots. He caught 19 passes for a career-high 438 yards and three touchdowns in 14 games last season. The Chiefs will await further medical updates to determine how long Thornton will be sidelined.
