Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs needed every last second to put away the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night, and Harrison Butker made sure it counted. His 40-yard field goal as time expired sealed a 33-30 overtime win at Arrowhead Stadium, capping a game that swung through five lead changes and never let either side settle in.
Mahomes was sharp for most of the night, finishing 32 of 47 for 382 yards and three touchdowns. Each scoring throw flipped a Kansas City deficit into a lead, connecting with Travis Kelce, Jalen Royals and Xavier Worthy.
Kelce did his part too, hauling in nine catches for 101 yards on a night the Chiefs needed all of it.

Indianapolis tied it late when Jonathan Taylor punched in his second touchdown with 5:37 remaining, making it 27-27 and forcing overtime after neither offense found the end zone again in regulation.
In the extra period, the Chiefs star QB went right back to work. He found Tyquan Thornton for 30 yards on third-and-12 to set up a go-ahead field goal, then answered an Indianapolis response with a 22-yard strike to Kenneth Walker that put Butker in position to finish it.
But the finish did more than extend the Chiefs’ win streak. NBC announced Tuesday that the Colts-Chiefs overtime thriller was the most-watched Week 2 “Sunday Night Football” game since 2015, pulling in 24.3 million viewers.
The win pushed Kansas City’s quarterback to 8-0 in regular-season overtime games. Kansas City is 2-0 to start the season after opening with a 31-10 win over the Denver Broncos in Week 1.
The Chiefs will visit the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium next Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
