Patrick Agyemang suffered a serious Achilles tendon injury while playing for Derby County in the Championship against Stoke City yesterday.
The American forward was taken off in the 41st minute of the match, and his injury rules him out for the 2026 World Cup, which is two months away.
USMNT fans and former players have sent messages to the 25-year-old striker, who seemed set to play in the World Cup.
Agyemang was called up for the March international break, and he played in both USMNT games against Portugal and Belgium; he scored against Belgium in the USMNT's 5-2 loss.

Charlie Davies on Patrick Agyemang
On the Call It What You Want Podcast, Charlie Davies reacted to Patrick Agyemang's injury that practically rules him out for the World Cup with the USMNT.
Davies feels for Agyemang but believes that the striker should look foward for a big move, as Davies wants to see the American striker experience a higher level of football.
The former USMNT striker said, "He firmly believed he was going to get that opportunity, and I think probably everyone within that locker room...it's going to be a tough couple of months, especially when that World Cup hits."
Davies continued and said, "Eventually, he's going to get by that, and then it's just let me focus on getting back on the pitch and getting healthy again, and then get a big move because let's be honest, he's such a late bloomer that there's still so much potential to fulfill."
