ESPN’s Pat McAfee provided an update on Tuesday night’s incident involving Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson and an Indiana Fever fan.
With 4:10 remaining in the fourth quarter of Game 2 between the Aces and Fever, an Indiana fan was asked to temporarily leave their seat after getting involved in an altercation with Wilson. The four-time MVP, meanwhile, was hit with a technical foul.
Prime Video’s broadcast and the Aces’ coaching staff assumed the fan involved in this incident disrespected Wilson.
“I think there’s a certain etiquette that both players and fans need to abide by, but clearly there’s something that gets- the lines get crossed, and it seems to happen here,” Aces coach Becky Hammon told reporters after the game. “I’m not, I mean, like I said, I don’t, I can’t speak specifically to what was said or what was done, but I could speak to the character of our players and stuff that they deal with and, you know, the disrespect, whether that’s a word or an action, a gesture should be addressed appropriately.”

During this Thursday’s episode of “The Pat McAfee Show,” the ESPN star’s crew revealed the fan who apparently crossed the line Tuesday night didn’t actually do anything terribly wrong.
“Boston Connor” from McAfee’s show said he was sitting next to the fan involved in this incident Tuesday night.
According to McAfee’s colleague, the Fever fan pointed at Wilson and said, “That foul is on you.”
The WNBA won’t discipline A’ja.
It’s been reported that Wilson won’t face any further discipline for her role in Tuesday night’s altercation. Some fans thought she’d at least be fined for possibly violating a rule regarding players entering the stands.
“The source noted that Wilson remained in the designated court area during the incident and did not step into the stands,” ESPN reported. “The officials gave Wilson a technical foul but concluded no ejection was needed, and the league followed in ruling that no other penalties would be given.”
Wilson will have plenty of eyes on her when the Aces and Fever tip off Thursday night.
The winner of the Aces-Fever series will take on either the Golden State Valkyries or Dallas Wings in the semifinals.
