Despite some speculation online, President Donald Trump won’t be the celebrity guest picker for Week 4 of “College GameDay.”
After OutKick and The Athletic reported that Trump was heading to Neyland Stadium to watch this Saturday’s game between Texas and Tennessee, fans started wondering if he’d make an appearance as a guest picker on “College GameDay.” ESPN ultimately went with actor and comedian Johnny Knoxville, who is a diehard fan of the Volunteers.
While on his self-titled show Friday afternoon, Pat McAfee explained that Trump was never a realistic option for ESPN. Not only would his presence lead to advanced security, it would cause a ton of chaos before kickoff at 12 p.m. ET.
“A lot of people were mad he wasn’t guest picker because online people said he was going to be the guest picker,” McAfee said. “Which is another thing that is just the world we’re in now. Think about where we’re at. We’re out on the field because the game is starting at noon. The amount of things – they’re cutting off radio signals whenever this guy moves in the building.”

Trump is simply too notable of a figure to have on “College GameDay” when there’s no gap between the end of the show and kickoff.
“Could you imagine trying to figure that out? He’s sitting on the field,” McAfee continued. “Eighth-largest stadium in the world. I think that’s a lot.”
Stephen A. Smith is grateful for ESPN’s decision.
ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith was worried the president would make an appearance on “College GameDay” to discuss the Protect College Sports Act.
“It wouldn’t surprise me at all if College Football GameDay, an absolutely fantastic show…it wouldn’t surprise me at all if the president ended up on the show,” Smith said, via Awful Announcing. “Don’t know whether that’s going to be the case or not, but it wouldn’t surprise me at all. Because I definitely believe the president is going to use this moment to try to push forward the Protect College Sports Act.”
We all know “College GameDay” received serious backlash for having U.S Senator Ted Cruz on the show in Week 2. If Trump made an appearance, that would’ve caused quite the uproar – both positive and negative – online.
