The Carolina Panthers have to be getting used to seeing important players go down at this point.
It’s only Week 4, but several Panthers are already either out for the season or could miss several games. Unfortunately, there were a couple more additions added to that list in Week 3.
One of the new injuries is to star cornerback Jaycee Horn. Horn suffered an injury near the end of the game and was unable to return. At the time, Dave Canales didn’t sound optimistic, and we learned on Monday that he’ll be out for a while.
It’s possible that Horn could go on injured reserve, but the corner is going to get a second and third opinion. Regardless, it’s clear he’ll at least miss a couple of games, leaving a gaping hole in the secondary.
So what’s the plan? Let’s go over some options.
Will Lee III or Corey Thornton

Canales mentioned Will Lee III and Corey Thornton first on Monday. Lee is a rookie who has played a decent number of snaps already this year. Lee has delivered up-and-down results, but the team likes his potential.
Lee has played in all three games so far and has 13 tackles, four pass breakups, and one fumble recovery. PFF gives Lee a solid 63.6 grade for his performance so far.
Thornton, meanwhile, is on the practice squad right now. The corner made the team in 2025 and appeared in 12 games, so he’s a slightly more experienced option than Lee. Thornton was beaten out for the nickel corner job by Chau Smith-Wade this preseason, and he’s been on the practice squad since.
Outside Options

Canales also mentioned on Monday that general manager Dan Morgan would look “outside the building” as well.
Marshon Lattimore and Adoree Jackson are a couple of notable veteran free agents. Trevon Diggs is also on the practice squad of the Seahawks, so he could maybe be an option.
I also have to mention Joey Porter Jr. Porter is currently dealing with a contract dispute and has not played for the Steelers yet in 2026. The corner has been featured in plenty of trade rumors recently, and he plays on the boundary like Horn.
