The Carolina Panthers pulled off one of their biggest wins of the season Sunday night, defeating the Detroit Lions 32-26 at Bank of America Stadium.
Chuba Hubbard played a major role in the upset, giving Carolina a consistent presence on the ground while the offense found its rhythm against Detroit.
After the game, Panthers head coach Dave Canales made sure to recognize his running back’s impact, highlighting Hubbard’s remarkable scoring efficiency.
“Chuba Hubbard is averaging a TD per every three quarters.”
Hubbard finished the night with 20 carries for 122 yards and two touchdowns. His first score came on a 15-yard run that capped an eight-play, 72-yard drive in the first quarter.
The performance was especially important for Carolina because the Panthers entered the game without Jalen Coker and Xavier Legette. Hubbard’s ability to consistently create yardage helped keep the offense balanced while Bryce Young attacked through the air.
Young finished with 329 passing yards, while rookie receiver Tetairoa McMillan also delivered a huge performance with a career-high 192 receiving yards.
Carolina scored on six consecutive possessions after punting on its opening drive, eventually building enough momentum to hold off Detroit in the fourth quarter.

The victory moved the Panthers to 2-2 and gave them an important win as they attempt to establish themselves in a crowded NFC South. Hubbard’s performance showed why Canales continues to trust him as a central piece of the offense.
For Carolina, the challenge now is turning one impressive prime-time performance into sustained success. If Hubbard continues producing at this level, the Panthers will have a reliable foundation to build around.
