Paige Spiranac has been around the game of golf for a long time.
The social media influencer, who has millions of followers across platforms, grew up playing the game. She went on to play collegiately, at the University of Arizona and San Diego State, before briefly playing professionally. Spiranac has since gotten into the social media and sports media world, amassing millions of fans across X, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
Spiranac has been active on X as of late. The social media influencer is urging the longtime golf community to become less stuffy, more open to new fans and more accepting of different opinions.
Spiranac wants to see more inclusion in golf and more overall acceptance.
The longtime golf influencer hates what some of golf can be.
Spiranac sounds off on golf community, pushes for change
"I love golf. I want everyone to play and I’m excited about all the new people getting into the game. I feel that should be the attitude everyone should have if you truly love the game," she wrote.
"I’m so tired of hearing 'shrink' and hating on this new culture of golf fans. This condescending and belittling behavior of new golfers is gross to me. You’re not better than someone else or morally superior because you’ve played longer.
"Golf doesn’t need to be stuffy and exclusive to preserve what we all love about the game so much. It’s about community. Part of the growth is educating and helping new players learn. Stop gatekeeping golf."
That's very well said by Spiranac.
Golf is a great game, but there can be a certain exclusive and 'better than you' feel to it, at least from some parts of the community.
It's good to see Spiranac, with such a big following, deciding to speak out and push for change.
