Paige Spiranac is calling out the critics of the Sydney Sweeney ad.
The popular golf influencer, who has more than four million followers on Instagram, is defending the Novig ad featuring Sweeney, while many in the sports world are criticizing it.
Olympic gold medalist Ariarne Titmus ripped Sweeney and Novig, a prediction market company, for the ad.
“I can’t describe how infuriated I feel when I watch this,” Titmus wrote on Instagram. “How do we live in a world where monetizing a woman’s body and sexualizing women’s sport is still a thing?”
Daniel Hong bashed it, too.
“Seeing this whole Sydney Sweeney controversy just confirms what I already knew I have to teach my daughters, sooner than later,” Hong said, via Us Weekly. “My girls are going to grow up in a world where they’re going to learn really quick that attention has value, especially for girls. Appearance can get you attention: likes, comments, followers, money, opportunities. All of that is very real. What I want them to understand is that attention and value are not the same thing.”

But Spiranac is defending it.
The former collegiate golfer, who played at the University of Arizona and San Diego State, is defending the ad, calling out the apparent double-standard when it comes to women in media.
Spiranac posted a racy photoshoot of Dakota Johnson in partnership with “Saturday Night Live.” Spiranac called out the critics of Sweeney in her post, wondering why something like this is OK, but a photoshoot from Sweeney is not.
Ultimately, one is for sports and one is for TV, but it’s a fair question from the popular golf influencer.
