Paige Bueckers delivered another solid performance for Team USA against Czechia on Monday. She showcased her ability to score in different ways in the 105-64 win.
One of the Dallas Wings guard’s baskets came from the midrange off a pass from Breanna Stewart. FIBA posted the play on social media, including its new nickname for Bueckers.
Bueckers finished with 10 points, five assists and two blocks. She shot 5-of-8 from the field and achieved a +27 in 19 minutes of action. Stewart led the team’s charge with 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists, while Angel Reese contributed 13 points and six rebounds. Jackie Young and Napheesa Collier each recorded 12 points, and Sonia Citron added 10.
FIBA uploaded Bueckers’ jump shot from near the free-throw line, revealing her new nickname in the caption.
“Middy P sighting in Berlin 👀,” FIBA wrote.
Bueckers took the WNBA by storm after Dallas selected her at No. 1 overall in 2025. She lived up to expectations with her strong all-around play, earning Rookie of the Year honors.
This season, the UConn product is one of the key reasons why the Wings clinched a playoff berth for the first time in three years. Bueckers is currently averaging 20.5 points on 50.6% shooting, 4.1 rebounds and 5.9 assists for Dallas. She’s also knocking down 1.8 triples per game on a 39.7% clip.
Meanwhile, Bueckers and Team USA will return to action on Thursday in the quarterfinals. They will take on the winner of Tuesday’s Hungary-Japan matchup.
The Americans are heavily favored to win the tournament and bring home the world championship trophy for the fifth consecutive time.
