Dallas Wings teammates Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd have made headlines in the past for being involved in a romantic relationship. They’ve mostly refrained from talking about it though.
Prior to the start of the 2026 WNBA season, Kevin Sherrington of The Dallas Morning News asked Fudd about her connection with Bueckers. A public relations staffer for the Wings responded by saying any questions about their players’ personal lives will be declined.
Bueckers, however, issued a statement on her dynamic with Fudd.
“Me and Azzi have always been the utmost professional. We’ve always conducted ourselves as such, and we’ve never let anything that happens off the court carry onto the court. That’s what we continue to do,” Bueckers said. “

Even though Bueckers and Fudd haven’t said much since that controversy, they’ve decided to open up about their relationship in Apple TV’s new docuseries, “The Dynasty: UConn Huskies.”
Bueckers, a former five-star recruit, said she had an instant connection with Fudd once the latter arrived on campus.
“Azzi ended up joining the team my sophomore year,” Bueckers said. “It kinda just meshed as soon as we met. She’s sweet, she’s genuine, she has a huge, caring heart. We kind of felt a spark a little bit different than what would just be considered a normal friendship.”
Fudd, meanwhile, described their relationship as “private,” albeit those close to them knew about it.
“Paige and I are a couple, and everyone close to us that was important knew, but it was kind of one of those things, it’s just, it’s private. Not a secret, but it’s private.”
Azzi Fudd’s first season with Dallas has been cut short.
Unfortunately for Bueckers and the Wings, they won’t have Fudd for the rest of the season due to a knee injury.
“I know exactly what comes next: rehab, put in the work, come back ready and better than before,” Fudd wrote on her Instagram story. “Grateful for my family, my circle, and the Wings organization for the support. Thank you for all the messages today. They mean a lot to me.”
Fudd, the No. 1 pick from this year’s draft, averaged 13.1 points, 1.8 assists and 1.7 steals per game during her rookie campaign.
