The Green Bay Packers answered one early-season question by playing a complete game against Chicago. Their Sunday night home game against Dallas offers the more revealing test: whether that performance marked a genuine change in their standard or simply an emotional peak against a division rival.

Locked On Packers host Peter Bukowski argued that the Bears win was the first time this season the team looked legitimately good from start to finish. He framed it as more than a rivalry release, pointing to tight end Tucker Kraft’s assessment that the locker room felt good because of the quality of the performance rather than the opponent.

Bukowski’s larger point was that Packers head coach Matt LaFleur now has to make that level of urgency portable. LaFleur told the team after the Chicago game that its performance represented the standard every week, according to Bukowski. The Cowboys supply enough history and NFC stakes to prevent a natural letdown, but Green Bay still has to avoid treating a confidence-building win as an accomplishment unto itself.

Packers quarterback Jordan Love sits at the center of that test. Bukowski said the offense has improved its protection formula over the past two games by leaning harder on quick throws, play action and heavier personnel packages. He cited a drop in pressure rate from nearly 45% over the first three weeks to 20.3% over the last two, while Love’s average time to throw changed only slightly.

That approach could create a favorable matchup with the Dallas Cowboys. Bukowski expects Green Bay to use its multiple-tight-end looks to force uncomfortable defensive alignments, then take either the downfield opportunities available to Love or the underneath throws Dallas has struggled to contain. He specifically predicted a prominent role for Kraft, whose ability to create after the catch could punish missed tackles and soft coverage.

The Packers also do not need a flawless defensive outing to validate their progress. Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott will test the boundary coverage with CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, Bukowski said, but he believes Green Bay’s safety trio of Xavier McKinney, Evan Williams and Javon Bullard gives the defense answers for disguising coverages and creating turnover opportunities.

Bukowski characterized the offensive matchup as the decisive edge: Green Bay should be able to score if it stays aggressive, while its defense only needs a handful of disruptive plays against Prescott. That makes the assignment straightforward, if not easy. The Packers must bring the same discipline, physicality and offensive balance that showed up against the Bears before they can call that game a turning point.

A win would not settle every concern around Green Bay’s consistency, but it would give the Bears performance a second layer of meaning. The Packers would enter the next difficult stretch with evidence that their best football can travel beyond the emotion of a rivalry game.
