The Baltimore Orioles made multiple roster moves Friday after closer Ryan Helsley landed on the 15-day injured list with right elbow discomfort, retroactive to June 30.
Baltimore recalled infielder Jeremiah Jackson and right-handed pitcher Anthony Nunez from Triple-A Norfolk while designating catcher Chadwick Tromp for assignment ahead of its series opener against the Cincinnati Reds.
Helsley's injury marks his second stint on the injured list this season after he previously missed time with right elbow inflammation.
The Orioles have not announced a timetable for his return as the veteran reliever undergoes further evaluation.
The 31-year-old signed with Baltimore before the 2026 season after establishing himself as one of baseball's top closers with the St. Louis Cardinals.
A two-time All-Star and former National League saves leader, Helsley has appeared in 17 games this season, posting an 0-4 record with eight saves, a 4.11 ERA, 21 strikeouts and a 1.43 WHIP across 15 1/3 innings.
Jackson, 26, provides additional infield depth after spending most of the season with Triple-A Norfolk.
The former second-round pick by the Los Angeles Angels made his major league debut in 2025 and returns to Baltimore after another productive stretch in the minors.

Nunez, 24, gives the Orioles another bullpen option after pitching in both the majors and Triple-A this season.
The right-hander made his MLB debut earlier this year and has recorded a 4.98 ERA with 38 strikeouts across 34 1/3 innings.
Baltimore entered Friday with a 40-48 record, sitting fourth in the American League East.
Without Helsley anchoring the bullpen, the Orioles will rely on their relievers to fill late-inning roles while hoping their veteran closer can avoid another lengthy absence.
