Olivia Miles and Napheesa Collier are two of the biggest reasons for the Minnesota Lynx’s success this WNBA season. They have built strong chemistry on and off the court, and the rookie guard has shown support for the star forward for being part of Team USA’s FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup lineup.
Collier posted four photos on Instagram on Friday. Three of them are solo snaps of herself wearing her national team uniform. The last slide features the entire team posing during the pre-tournament photo shoot. The five-time All-Star had the perfect caption for her Team USA update: “Always an honor ❤️🩶💙”
Miles expressed excitement with a one-word reaction in the comments section.
“woooooo❤️❤️,” Miles wrote.
The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Month has played an instrumental role in keeping the Lynx on top of the WNBA standings. They hold a 31-9 record with four games left and are favorites to secure the No. 1 seed.
Meanwhile, Collier and Team USA kicked off their World Cup title defense on Friday. They easily defeated China, 94-61. Collier finished with four points, six rebounds and a +10 on the night.
Caitlin Clark led the charge with an incredible debut performance, recording 14 points, three rebounds, 11 assists and three three-pointers. Rhyne Howard and Paige Bueckers also scored 14 points each, while Jackie Young contributed 12.
Collier and Co. will play their second group stage game on Sunday against Italy. Head coach Kara Lawson could once again opt for a big rotation, while also allowing the entire roster to see action. All 12 players scored against China, flexing their might and showcasing their dominance.
Team USA seeks to win its fifth straight world championship.
