The Oklahoma Sooners have used the momentum of their 10-3 season College Football Playoff appearance on the high school recruiting trail. With 21 commitments in the 2027 cycle, they rank second in the SEC and third in the nation.

The secondary is among the strongest groups, landing four-star safety Jaylen Scott, four-star cornerback Mikhail McCreary and three-star cornerback Mikyal Davis. The Sooners are looking to add as well, with Juju Johnson as a top priority.

Out of Long Beach, California, he is a four-star recruit, the No. 9 cornerback and the No. 69 player in the nation, per Rivals Industry Rankings. He missed last season due to a leg injury, but as a sophomore accumulated 43 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one interception, and three pass deflections.

Brent Venables and his staff have ensured Oklahoma remains a contender throughout the recruiting process. Set to decide on June 27, the Sooners, Miami Hurricanes, UCLA Bruins, California Golden Bears and Michigan Wolverines are the five finalists.

The Sooners aren't trending in the right direction, though. On Friday, Rivals' vice president of recruiting, Steve Wiltfong, logged an expert prediction for Johnson to commit to the Bruins. He's been correct in 91.73% of his 1,209 all-time predictions.

It would be a major addition for UCLA, which has 12 commitments in the 2027 cycle. Under new head coach Bob Chesney, their group ranks fourth in the Big Ten and 12th in the nation.

Despite the prediction, Oklahoma still has a chance to jump out in front. The Sooners are set to host Johnson for an official visit on June 12, before he announces a decision. It will be his third time in Norman, and the most important so far.
