Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners ended the 2025 college football season on a sour note. Entering the College Football Playoff as the No. 8 seed, they fell in the first round at home to the No. 9 Alabama Crimson Tide.
However, going 10-3 at least marked Venables' second double-digit win season since taking over as head coach in 2022. He and his staff are looking to build on the momentum. While the transfer portal made headlines early into the offseason, the Sooners have made a lot of noise when it comes to high school recruiting.
Oklahoma received a commitment from running back Micah Rhodes on Jan. 29. Out of Spring, Texas, he is a member of the 2028 cycle.

At 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds, Rhodes put together an impressive season at Klein Oak High School. He earned first-team honors as a MaxPreps Sophomore All-American with 1,307 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns on 172 carries.
He was a big-time addition for the Sooners. Rivals Industry Rankings place Rhodes as a four-star recruit, the No. 2 running back and the No. 37 player in the nation. Before committing, he revealed Oklahoma, the Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies were his top three schools.
However, the running back has had a change of heart. On Wednesday, Rivals' Hayes Fawcett reported that Rhodes has decommitted from Oklahoma.
While Rhodes opens his recruitment back up, the Sooners are once again looking to land a running back. Venables and his staff have extended offers to several talented prospects in the 2028 cycle. That includes four-star Zachary Belyeu, four-star Cartae Ligon and three-star Corey Hilton Jr.
