The Edmonton Oilers have received a concerning injury update on goaltender Devon Levi ahead of their matchup against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Levi has been placed on injured reserve and is expected to miss several weeks, according to Oilers analyst Jason Gregor.
Gregor shared the latest information on X, confirming that Levi’s absence would not be long-term. However, the injury leaves Edmonton with fewer options in goal as the team prepares for its upcoming games.
Levi suffered the injury during Edmonton’s 6-5 shootout victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. He made 22 saves before completing the contest, but the Oilers have not publicly disclosed the exact nature of his injury.
The goaltender’s absence comes at an inconvenient time for Edmonton. Backup netminder Frederik Andersen is also on injured reserve, leaving Tristan Jarry to handle starting duties.
The Oilers have recalled Matt Tomkins from the Bakersfield Condors to provide additional depth. Jarry is expected to start against Toronto as Edmonton looks to extend its strong start.
Earlier, head coach Mike Babcock acknowledged uncertainty surrounding Levi’s condition when reporters asked about the goaltending situation.
“I think we do. We are going with Jarry anyway, that was the schedule. But we have already called somebody up,” Babcock said, adding that he had not yet spoken with the trainers.

Gregor also provided updates on two other injured Oilers. Defenseman Mattias Ekholm will miss the next three games but is expected to return for the team’s road trip next weekend.
Meanwhile, forward Jason Dickinson is nearing a return. He could play against Calgary next Wednesday if he is ready, otherwise he may return during the road trip.
Edmonton enters the Maple Leafs matchup with an 8-1-1 record through 10 games. With Levi unavailable, the Oilers will need Jarry to deliver while their goaltending depth remains stretched.
