Dusty May culminated an epic turnaround by leading the Michigan Wolverines to a men's national championship in his second season as head coach. After Monday's win over UConn, fans mocked an Ohio State reporter's old social media post that aged terribly.
Michigan won its second men's basketball title in school history with a 69-63 victory over UConn. The Big Ten program must feel great about its decision to select May as the new head coach in 2024 after firing Wolverines legend Juwan Howard.
Their biggest rival made a head coaching hire in the same offseason. Ohio State removed Jake Diebler's interim label to replace Chris Holtmann, but the Buckeyes watched their foes run the March Madness gauntlet after suffering a first-round elimination to TCU.
Unfortunately for one Ohio State media member, people on the Internet keep receipts. A Reddit user reminded everyone of a now-infamous social media post from Bucknuts editor David Biddle from two years ago.
On March 22, 2024, Biddle wrote that Ohio State "dodged a bullet with Dusty May." He claimed May had a "lucky postseason" when leading Florida Atlantic to the 2023 Final Four as a No. 9 seed.
Biddle responds to Michigan triumph

Biddle off-handedly acknowledged his ill-fated prediction when congratulating Michigan on Monday night. He then tried to shift attention back to the gridion.
"Hats off to Michigan and my boy Dusty May (yeah, I know)," Biddle wrote. "Very impressive. Wasn't hoping it would be you guys, but nice work ending the Big Ten's streak of not winning a natty in hoops. See you in the sport I really care about in November."
It certainly appears that Ohio State didn't dodge a bullet by hiring Diebler over May.
Michigan went 8-24 with a 3-17 conference record under Howard in 2023-24 before naming May the new head coach. The Wolverines reached the Sweet 16 in May's first season before becoming a juggernaut.
May's squad set a school record by stockpiling 37 wins this season, losing just one Big Ten matchup. Michigan stayed hot in the NCAA tournament, collecting six victories by 113 combined points.
Meanwhile, the Buckeyes have gone four seasons without a March Madness win and 11 years since advancing past the second round. That has many Ohio State fans sharing Biddle's sentiment of looking toward the upcoming football season.
