It's been a busy offseason for the Ohio State Buckeyes. With summer in full swing, Ryan Day and his staff have hit the recruiting trail.
While most of the attention is on the 2027 recruiting class, the Buckeyes are beginning to put some focus on the 2028 cycle. They've already landed three commitments, ranking first in the nation, according to Rivals.
After already landing four-star defensive lineman Jameer Whyce, it's clear that Ohio State is emphasizing the front seven. In fact, the Buckeyes have recently entered the race for another top pass rusher.
On Thursday, defensive lineman Geraci Carson, out of Jackson, Mississippi, announced that he'd received a scholarship offer from the Buckeyes.
Most of the attention he's received throughout the recruiting process has come from SEC teams. His only three visits so far come with the LSU Tigers (March 21), Alabama Crimson Tide (April 6) and Ole Miss Rebels (June 3). The Tigers have the best chance (27.3%) at landing his commitment, according to the Rivals Recruiting Prediction machine.
However, it's no surprise that the Buckeyes have decided to enter the battle. Last season as a sophomore at Lanier High School, Carson accumulated 35 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and three sacks in 10 games.

At 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds, he has impressive size for someone about to be a junior in high school. Rivals Industry Rankings also list Carson as a four-star recruit, the No. 9 defensive lineman and the No. 63 player in the nation.
With an offer extended, the next step for Ohio State is getting him on campus for a visit. Bringing him to Columbus allows the Buckeyes to showcase their program up close and personal.
