In 2022, C.J. Stroud and Marvin Harrison Jr. formed one of the best passing combinations in college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Four years later, they’re set to reunite as members of the NFL’s Houston Texans.
Following their win over the rival Tennessee Titans today, the Texans confirmed that they are finalizing a trade for Harrison, who currently plays for the Arizona Cardinals. Houston will receive Harrison and a seventh round pick in exchange for a second- and sixth-round pick.
Harrison simply hasn’t gelled with the Cardinals since going to the team fourth overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. Through three seasons he has just 108 receptions for 1,578 yards and 13 touchdowns in 33 games – more than half of which came in his rookie season.
Buckeyes And Texans Fans Are Thrilled
Ohio State fans certainly loved the idea of one of their former star QBs with one of their former star receivers. And Texans fans loved the idea that Stroud – who has struggled a lot this season – getting both a high-ceiling player and a former teammate to boost his chances of turning things around.
“Stroud and MHJ reunion may be just what both needed to get back on track. Love to see it,” one fan wrote.
“If anyone can motivate Marv & get the most out of him, it’s his college QB. Cannot wait to see how this goes,” another fan declared.
“Pretty expensive but I like the fit with Stroud and MHJ gets to be a number 2 next to Collins,” wrote a third.
“Been supporting CJ Stroud all offseason. Been begging for MHJ since Higgins went down. My chickens are coming home to roost!

In 2022, Stroud and Harrison connected for 1,263 yards and a whopping 14 touchdowns. It was one of the most productive connections by a Buckeyes quarterback and receiver ever and nearly resulted in Stroud winning the Heisman Trophy.
Championships ultimately eluded the pair, but both men wound up being top-five picks in their respective NFL drafts.
Will a reunion between the two be successful?
