New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is being accused of snubbing the United States men's national team.
On Sunday night, Egypt secured its first-ever World Cup win by defeating New Zealand 3-1. Mohamed Salah scored the go-ahead goal for his country in the 68th minute, which sent the crowd in Vancouver into a frenzy.
Countless Egyptian fans celebrated this historic win on Sunday night. There was even a huge party that broke out in New York, much to the delight of Mamdani.
"Egypt's first-ever World Cup win, celebrated in the World's Borough," Mamdani wrote on social media. "Mabrouk Masr!"

This seemed like a pretty harmless post from Mamdani, but fans called him out for not posting anything about the USMNT's 2-0 start to the World Cup.
"Strange you didn’t post about the US winning," one person said.
"Have you posted once about the US team?… Your hatred is showing through," a second person commented.
"You're the mayor of the largest city in the United States," a third person wrote. "You should at least *mention* Team USA."
"You support & cheer everyone & everything except America & Americans," another social media user replied.
What's next for the USMNT?
The U.S. has already won Group D thanks to victories over Australia and Panama. Next up for the USMNT is a showdown with Türkiye.
“You know, [if] someone said before the tournament two games and you’re through to the knockouts, I think we all would have took it,” U.S. striker Folarin Balogun said. “We’re delighted.”
The USMNT’s Round of 32 match will take place on July 1 in Santa Clara, California
