Arizona Diamondbacks star OF Corbin Carroll looks to get things started early against the St. Louis Cardinals in a YRFI pick. We like taking NRFI between the Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres. The Texas Rangers vs. Miami Marlins have a couple of big arms going, but do we like the NRFI or YRFI?

Best NRFI and YRFI Bets Today
Arizona Diamondbacks at St. Louis Cardinals YRFI (-115)
The D-Backs are expected to go with LHP Mitch Bratt for his major league debut Wednesday. He's 1-1 with a 2.84 ERA at Triple-A Reno. On the other side, struggling LHP Matthew Liberatore goes for St. Louis. He's 3-4 with a 5.23 ERA on the season and has been awful lately. He has a 5.40 ERA in the first inning through 15 starts. With a pitcher making his debut, and a struggling Liberatore, the YRFI looks ripe in this one.
Atlanta Braves at San Diego Padres NRFI (-110)
The Braves send LHP Martin Perez to the hill, and he's 6-3 with a 2.78 ERA. His ERA is 4.09 in the first, but he hasn't been scored upon in the opening frame in six starts. Padres RHP Randy Vasquez has hit a bump in the road of late and allowed six ER in his last start to blimp his ERA to 4.17. Five of those runs came in the first, which ballooned his first-inning ERA to 7.20. He had been very good in the first before that, though, and we look for both pitchers to rebound for an NRFI.
Texas Rangers at Miami Marlins YRFI (+125)
Rangers RHP Jacob deGrom is 6-4 with a 3.59 ERA. He was torched for five runs in the first in his last start, but he had allowed 10 ER in 14 first frames before that. Marlins RHP Eury Perez, like deGrom, has dynamite stuff, but it hasn't translated to success this season. He's 3-6 with a 4.60 ERA on the season. When it comes to the first, he has a 5.25 ERA. We look for a quick start in this one.
What Does NRFI and YRFI Mean in Baseball?
The term NRFI indicates no runs scored in the first inning. Its opposite, YRFI, indicates yes, a run will be scored in the first inning. It doesn't matter if the run qualifies as an earned run or not. If a run crosses the plate in the first inning for either team, the wager loses for the NRFI side and wins for the YRFI side.
