Best NRFI and YRFI Bets Today
Athletics at Detroit Tigers NRFI (-135)
Athletics RHP J.T. Ginn is 7-4 with a 3.04 ERA in a breakout first half. He's even better in the first with a 2.25 ERA and 18 K's in 16 IP. LHP Tarik Skubal is making what could be one of his final starts with the club as he'll be a free agent after the season. He's 4-4 with a 3.15 ERA in a season interrupted with an injury. He has a 4.91 ERA in the first, with six runs and five homers allowed. Hitters are batting just .214 off him in the opening frame.
Los Angeles Angels at Texas Rangers NRFI (-150)
In one of the better pitching matchups of the day, RHP Jose Soriano goes for the Angels. He's 8-5 with a 3.42 ERA on the season, and he sports a 3.00 ERA in the first. For the Rangers, RHP Jacob deGrom goes at 7-5 with a 3.48 ERA. He has had some hiccups in the first with a 9.00 ERA. But a lot of his 17 ER came in nuclear blowups. We like it to remain clean here.
Chicago Cubs at Baltimore Orioles YRFI (-115)
Cubs LHP Matthew Boyd is making his third start back from the injured list. He's 3-1 with a 5.08 ERA on the season. He has a 5.14 ERA in the first inning through seven starts. Orioles RHP Shane Baz has been scored on in the first in three of his last four starts. He sits at 4-8 with a 4.19 ERA on the season, and he has a 6.35 first-inning ERA.
What Does NRFI and YRFI Mean in Baseball?
The term NRFI indicates no runs scored in the first inning. Its opposite, YRFI, indicates yes, a run will be scored in the first inning. It doesn't matter if the run qualifies as an earned run or not. If a run crosses the plate in the first inning for either team, the wager loses for the NRFI side and wins for the YRFI side.
