Los Angeles Dodgers RHP Tyler Glasnow is set to return from the injured list Tuesday after dominating during his rehab assignment. He and the Atlanta Braves have the arsenals going to cash the NRFI. The Chicago Cubs and Arizona Diamondbacks have a sneaky matchup for the NRFI as well. As far as the Kansas City Royals and Toronto Blue Jays go, runs could cross the plate early and often.

Best NRFI and YRFI Bets Today
Los Angeles Dodgers at Atlanta Braves NRFI (-110)
RHP Tyler Glasnow makes his eighth start as he makes his case for the playoff rotation. He’s 3-0 with a 2.72 ERA and has struck out 49 in 39 2/3 IP. Good luck in the first inning as Glasnow has a 2.57 ERA and a .160 opponents’ batting average. Braves RHP Bryce Elder makes the start at 8-7 with a 3.92 ERA. His first-inning ERA is 4.88, but that’s a bit skewed. Elder has kept it clean in eight of his last nine starts, but he allowed five runs in that one, which bloated his ERA.
Chicago Cubs at Arizona Diamondbacks NRFI (-120)
Despite his 5-6 record, Cubs RHP Clay Holmes has been dealing with a 2.49 ERA. He has been unhittable in the first with a 2.25 ERA and a .103 opponents’ batting average. The D-Backs go with RHP Brandon Pfaadt at 7-1 with a 3.39 ERA. He has been rock-solid in the first with a 2.77 ERA. While they’re not household names, these pitchers have what it takes to push the NRFI to the finish line.
Kansas City Royals at Toronto Blue Jays YRFI (-115)
Royals RHP Seth Lugo makes the start at 5-7 with a 4.71 ERA. He’s a pitcher that routinely has issues in the first inning with a 5.88 ERA. If 2026 is it for Future Hall of Famer RHP Max Scherzer, it has been hard to watch. He’s 1-6 with a 7.40 ERA, and it doesn’t get any better in the first with a 9.82 ERA. Scherzer has given up runs in the first in two straight starts.
What Do NRFI and YRFI Mean in Baseball?
The term NRFI indicates no runs scored in the first inning. Its opposite, YRFI, indicates yes, there will be a run in the first inning. It doesn’t matter if the run qualifies as an earned run or not. If a run crosses the plate in the first inning for either team, the wager loses for the NRFI side and wins for the YRFI side.
