Blue Jays ace Dylan Cease takes the mound at 7-5 with a 2.28 ERA. Good luck hitting him in the first inning as he has a 2.57 ERA and 31 K's in 21 first frames.
Pittsburgh Pirates at Miami Marlins NRFI (-160)
The Bucs go with RHP Paul Skenes, who's having his worst season of his young career at 9-10 with a 3.96 ERA. He has been hittable in the first with a 4.94 ERA, but Skenes has kept the first inning clean in four of five starts. The Miami Marlins throw RHP Eury Perez at 5-9 with a 3.61 ERA. He's nasty in the first inning with a 3.60 ERA and a .178 opponents' batting average.
Chicago Cubs at Washington Nationals YRFI (-120)
Cubs LHP Shota Imanaga makes the start Tuesday at 8-9 with a 3.60 ERA. He has had issues in the first all season with a 4.70 ERA. RHP Jake Irvin is slated for Washington, and he's 2-5 with a 5.37 ERA. He has an 8.31 ERA in 13 first frames this season. This one could get out of hand early.
What Do NRFI and YRFI Mean in Baseball?
The term NRFI indicates no runs scored in the first inning. Its opposite, YRFI, indicates yes, there will be a run in the first inning. It doesn't matter if the run qualifies as an earned run or not. If a run crosses the plate in the first inning for either team, the wager loses for the NRFI side and wins for the YRFI side.
