Best NRFI and YRFI Bets Today
New York Yankees at Baltimore Orioles NRFI (-130)
RHP Gerrit Cole goes for the Yankees at 6-6 with a 3.22 ERA, and he has been fantastic of late. His ERA over the last 28 days is 1.99 in five starts. He locks things down in the first with a 1.80 ERA. Orioles RHP Kyle Bradish is one of our NRFI faves at 7-11 with a 3.65 ERA. He has allowed just two earned runs in 24 first frames for a 0.75 ERA.
St. Louis Cardinals at Cincinnati Reds NRFI (+100)
The Cards send RHP Michael McGreevy to the mound at 5-9 with a 3.48 ERA. He gets off to good starts, too, with a 2.25 first-inning ERA. Reds RHP Brady Singer isn’t someone you’d think to target for an NRFI at 5-11 with a 4.66 ERA. He has been better in the first, though, with a 3.75 ERA. Worried about the Great American Ball Park? He’s better there with a 3.62 ERA as opposed to a 5.75 ERA on the road.
Los Angeles Angels at Houston Astros YRFI (-115)
Angels RHP Grayson Rodriguez has had an awful year at 3-5 with a 7.17 ERA. It doesn’t get much better in the first with a 6.23 ERA. Rodriguez has allowed runs in the first in four of his last seven starts. Astros RHP Peter Lambert has quietly had a good year at 8-6 with a 3.11 ERA. He has been good in the first, too, with a 2.57 ERA. With Rodriguez’s struggles, though, we’ll take our chances at the YRFI.
What Do NRFI and YRFI Mean in Baseball?
The term NRFI indicates no runs scored in the first inning. Its opposite, YRFI, indicates yes, there will be a run in the first inning. It doesn’t matter if the run qualifies as an earned run or not. If a run crosses the plate in the first inning for either team, the wager loses for the NRFI side and wins for the YRFI side.
