It's a bit of an abbreviated slate for Monday's MLB action. We have nine games to choose from for our best YRFI and NRFI wagers to profit from.
We like a couple of NRFIs and a lone YRFI Monday. Ace Jacob deGrom and the Texas Rangers take on the St. Louis Cardinals, and we like the first inning to remain clean. The Miami Marlins-Washington Nationals matchup looks like another NRFI to take advantage of. However, the Chicago White Sox vs. Minnesota Twins has the makings of a crooked number early on the scoreboard.

Best NRFI and YRFI Bets Today
Texas Rangers at St. Louis Cardinals NRFI
RHP Jacob deGrom is a couple of weeks away from his 38th birthday, but he's still putting hitters away. He's 3-4 with a 3.77 ERA and a 10.6 K/9. He has pitched very well against the Cards in his career at 5-2 with a 3.65 ERA. Opposing him is RHP Michael McGreevy, who is really strong against opponents the first time through the order. He has allowed just two earned runs in 11 first frames.
Chicago White Sox at Minnesota Twins YRFI (-115)
We really like the YRFI here, and it's a bit of a sneaky pick. The White Sox will send out RHP David Sandlin for his second career start. In his first start, ironically against these Twins, he pitched six solid innings, allowing a single earned run. That run, however, came in the first. RHP Joe Ryan goes for Minnesota, and he's arguably their best pitcher at 3-3 with a 2.94 ERA. He has a 4.76 ERA in the first inning this season, though. We could see either side strike first in the opening frame.
Miami Marlins at Washington Nationals NRFI (-105)
The Fish send their struggling ace RHP Sandy Alcantara to the mound. He has allowed 14 ER in 11 2/3 innings over his last two starts. His first inning has been shaky, but five of the eight runs he has allowed came in two starts. He has a 2.70 ERA in the other 10 first frames. On the other side, RHP Cade Cavalli has been great to open the game with just a 1.50 ERA in the first inning through 12 starts.
What Does NRFI and YRFI Mean in Baseball?
The term NRFI indicates no runs scored in the first inning. Its opposite, YRFI, indicates yes, a run will be scored in the first inning. It doesn't matter if the run qualifies as an earned run or not. If a run crosses the plate in the first inning for either team, the wager loses for the NRFI side and wins for the YRFI side.
