For the Royals, LHP Noah Cameron is 4-6 with a 4.95 ERA. However, he has been great in the first with a 1.69 ERA. We like the lefties to keep it clean in the first here.
New York Yankees at Tampa Bay Rays NRFI (-120)
Yankees phenom RHP Cam Schlittler is 8-5 with a 2.08 ERA, and he's headed to the All-Star Game in Philadelphia. He's tough in the first, too, with a 2.50 ERA. Rays RHP Griffin Jax is 4-5 with a 3.45 ERA on the season. He is solid to open the game with a 3.00 ERA and 14 K's in 12 first frames.
Colorado Rockies at Los Angeles Dodgers YRFI (-140)
The Rockies turn to LHP Kyle Freeland, who is 2-7 with a 7.25 ERA. He gave up eight runs in four innings in his earlier start against the Dodgers. He has an 8.40 ERA in the first inning this season. The Dodgers go with LHP Eric Lauer, who is 4-5 with a 4.84 ERA. He has had issues in the first, too, with a 7.36 ERA. Look for this one to get amped up early.
What Does NRFI and YRFI Mean in Baseball?
The term NRFI indicates no runs scored in the first inning. Its opposite, YRFI, indicates yes, a run will be scored in the first inning. It doesn't matter if the run qualifies as an earned run or not. If a run crosses the plate in the first inning for either team, the wager loses for the NRFI side and wins for the YRFI side.
