New York Yankees at Toronto Blue Jays YRFI (+100)
The Yankees throw LHP Ryan Weathers on Friday, and he's 2-4 with a 3.86 ERA. He has had issues in the first, though, with a 6.00 ERA in eight first frames. RHP Trey Yesavage was a postseason hero for the Blue Jays last season, but he has allowed a run in the first in three of his eight starts. The Yankees are the second-best YRFI team in baseball this season, and one of these teams is due to touch home plate in the first.
Seattle Mariners at Washington Nationals NRFI (+100)
Mariners RHP Bryce Miller makes his fifth start of the season, and he has been great thus far at 2-0 with a 1.33 ERA. He hasn't allowed a run in the first, and opponents are just 1-for-13 off of him. Nats RHP Zack Littell is 6-4 with a 4.76 ERA on the season, but he has been great in the first. He has a 2.00 ERA in the opening frame in nine starts. This has the makings of a calm first frame.
Tampa Bay Rays at Los Angeles Angels NRFI (-105)
Rays LHP Shane McClanahan has rebounded from Tommy John surgery to go 6-3 with a 2.85 ERA in 12 starts thus far. He has been unhittable to open games with a 0.75 ERA, a .122 opponent batting average and 15 K's in 12 first frames. Speaking of opening, LHP Sam Aldegheri will be the opener for the Halos. He has allowed just three earned runs all season, and this matchup looks prime for an NRFI cash.
What Does NRFI and YRFI Mean in Baseball?
The term NRFI indicates no runs scored in the first inning. Its opposite, YRFI, indicates yes, a run will be scored in the first inning. It doesn't matter if the run qualifies as an earned run or not. If a run crosses the plate in the first inning for either team, the wager loses for the NRFI side and wins for the YRFI side.
