Best NRFI and YRFI Bets Today
New York Yankees at Washington Nationals YRFI (-130)
The Yankees go with LHP Ryan Weathers Friday, who sits at 3-7 with a 4.29 ERA. He does not like the first inning, though, with a 6.88 ERA. LHP Carson Palmquist will open for the Nats. In his last opening appearance, he gave up four runs and has a 7.11 ERA on the season. The YRFI is ripe in this one.
Kansas City Royals at Baltimore Orioles YRFI (-145)
The Royals send RHP Luinder Avila to the hill, who is 4-3 with a 5.05 ERA. That ERA explodes to 15.75 in the first inning. The O's send RHP Brandon Young, who has emerged with a 7-2 record and 3.38 ERA. He has some issues in the first, though, with a 5.14 ERA. This one could get ugly early.
Atlanta Braves at St. Louis Cardinals NRFI (-130)
Braves ace LHP Chris Sale goes Friday, looking to improve on a solid first half at 9-6 with a 2.27 ERA. He usually starts out well with a 1.12 ERA and 21 K's in 16 first frames. His counterpart is Cardinals RHP Kyle Leahy, who sits at 7-4 with a 3.86 ERA in his first half as a starter. He is also very good in the first with a 3.18 ERA and 19 K's in 17 IP. This one shapes up well for an NRFI.
What Does NRFI and YRFI Mean in Baseball?
The term NRFI indicates no runs scored in the first inning. Its opposite, YRFI, indicates yes, a run will be scored in the first inning. It doesn't matter if the run qualifies as an earned run or not. If a run crosses the plate in the first inning for either team, the wager loses for the NRFI side and wins for the YRFI side.
