Norway’s Johannes Hosflot Klaebo entered the 2026 Winter Olympics with the possibility of making Winter Games history.

After winning the men’s skiathlon to open his Games, the 29-year-old claimed another gold medal in the sprint classic — pushing him closer to becoming the most decorated cross-country skier in Olympic history.

Klaebo has seven Olympic gold medals, putting him one shy of the all-time record held by Bjoern Daehlie.

On Wednesday, Klaebo celebrated the milestone in his own great way, sharing a hilarious three-slide post on his Instagram account.

“Double trouble 🤝 #olympics #winterolympics #milanocortina2026 #olympicgold @milanocortina2026,” Klaebo captioned the post.

The three-slider featured a sequence of captioned pictures beginning with “I wanna say,” then “Maaan, the first one was so nice…” and ending with “I had to do it twice.”

The first image showed Klaebo mid-race en route to his second gold, followed by him holding his first gold medal, then both.

The post came just hours after Klaebo’s dominant sprint classic victory over Team USA’s Ben Ogden and fellow Norwegian Oskar Opstad Vike. It was Klaebo’s first gold in the sprint event at these Games and his second gold in four days.

Klaebo had already won the men’s skiathlon in 46 minutes, 11 seconds on Sunday, holding off France’s Mathis Desloges and Norway’s Martin Nyenget. It was his first Olympic medal in the skiathlon, improving from a 40th-place finish at Beijing 2022.

That victory put Klaebo one step closer to surpassing Norwegian legend Marit Bjoergen’s all-time record of eight Olympic golds in the discipline.

Klaebo owns seven Olympic golds, with multiple events still to come in Italy, starting with the men’s 10km interval start free. A win there would tie Daehlie’s record of eight Olympic golds.
