North Carolina fans already have a replacement in mind for head coach Hubert Davis.
Back in 2022, Davis led the Tar Heels to a 29-10 record and an appearance in the national championship game. He seemed like the perfect successor to Roy Williams at the time. The past two seasons, however, have really soured his relationship with the fan base.
On Thursday night, No. 6 North Carolina blew a 19-point lead to No. 11 VCU before losing in overtime. It's the second year in a row the Tar Heels were eliminated in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
Davis received plenty of backlash for sticking with a six-man rotation against VCU. Although his team completely lost momentum in the second half, he refused to change his ways.

Less than 12 hours after North Carolina's upset loss to VCU, fans started speculating about Davis' future. Most of them made it known that they'd love to see UNC's athletic department pursue Florida head coach Todd Golden.
"Give Todd Golden a truck of money and NIL money and he leaves Florida," one fan declared.
"Todd Golden would be my choice," a second UNC fan said.
"Not sure why on earth either coach would leave their current job for UNC," another fan commented. "But give me Golden."
Would Todd Golden leave for UNC?
You should never say never in the world of sports, but Golden has zero incentive to leave Florida at this time.
For starters, Golden just led the Gators to a 36-4 record and national championship last season. His team is once again a No. 1 seed and should have enough firepower to make a deep run in this year's NCAA Tournament.
Let's also not forget that Florida has the necessary funds to keep Golden. It's not a small school incapable of fending off competition.
