Kevin Magnussen is getting the full NASCAR experience. He finished on the lead lap at Naval Base Coronado. However, after the race, he had Noah Gragson in his face asking him what he was thinking when he spun the No. 4 car around.
Apparently, Kevin Magnussen isn't making any friends on his trip to America. Noah Gragson was furious with the former F1 driver after the Anduril 250. The two went back and forth with one another, trading expletives after the race.
Dalton Hopkins of Frontstretch captured the exchange. In the end, KMag and Gragson were unable to settle their differences, as Gragson's team ushered him away.
There were a lot of "F Offs" traded back and forth. Gragson clearly felt that Magnussen had wronged him. Magnussen obviously felt justified in his actions, and didn't want to talk things over.
Noah Gragson finished P35 in a DNF effort. Kevin Magnussen, in his Cup Series debut, finished P27 on the lead lap. Magnussen also recorded the fastest lap of the race.
A wild cultural exchange between Gragson and Magnussen. If Magnussen does come back for more NASCAR races, he better watch out for the No. 4 car. Clearly, Gragson has unfinished business in his mind.
The Project 91 team has brought back drivers for extra runs in the past. Kimi Raikkonen and Shane van Gisbergen had multiple starts in the 91 car. So, could we see Magnussen make his way back to the Cup Series? After seeing him run the fastest lap of the race, by almost 8-tenths, it feels like he learned a lot during the San Diego race.
As for Noah Gragson, things continue to go poorly this season. His teammate, Zane Smith, finished P4 and continues to shine for Front Row Motorsports. Todd Gilliland showed speed in the race, even though he ultimately finished P21.
Gragson has three DNFs in a row going back to Michigan. He only has a single top-10 and trails both of his teammates in points this season. Perhaps the pressure is mounting for Gragson as Front Row Motorsports begins to improve and he is still struggling on the track.
