Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Konnor Griffin is one of the most highly regarded future stars in all of Major League Baseball. Ranked as the No. 1 overall prospect in the sport, according to MLB.com, Griffin has had Pirates fans excited for his future with the team since Pittsburgh selected him ninth overall in the 2024 MLB Draft.
Coming out of Jackson Prep High School in Mississippi, Griffin was the first high schooler taken off the board in that year's draft, and he has lived up to expectations so far.
He began the 2025 season as the No. 57 prospect in baseball, but quickly worked his way up the ranks. In 122 games across three levels, including Double-A, he slashed .333/.415/.527 with an OPS of .942, totaling 21 home runs and 94 RBIs.

Griffin was invited to major league spring training ahead of the 2026 season, with many people hoping to see him on the Pirates' opening day roster.
In 16 spring training games, Griffin struggled, batting just .171 with a .749 OPS, four homers and nine runs driven in. With these issues against high-level pitching, he was reassigned to minor league camp ahead of opening day, as he will begin the season in the minors.
On Tuesday, after the news of him being sent back down, it was reported that Griffin signed a multi-year cleat and apparel contract with Under Armour.
"BREAKING: MLB’s Top prospect Konnor Griffin is signing a multi-year cleat and apparel deal with Under Armour 🚨," brwalkoff wrote on Instagram.
Griffin becomes one of many baseball stars to join the Under Armour brand, along with players like Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper, Kansas City Royals slugger Vinnie Pasquantino and Milwaukee Brewers prospect Jett Williams.
The Indianapolis Indians, the Pirates' Triple-A affiliate, who Griffin will begin the year with, opens the regular season on Friday.
