Beef, like actual meat, is the last thing I expected to associate with a new sneaker, but that’s where we are with the Nike Air Max 90 x Wagyu. Nike went all in on the beefy concept with a bull on the back heel that us Chicagoans might immediately associate with the iconic grocery chain, Moo & Oink. It’s a real store. Nike leaned into the joke in its own product copy, calling the shoe 100 percent grade A Air and marbled to perfection. The build backs the language up.
Wagyu is a New York streetwear label and this is its first collaboration on a Nike runner, which is why the detailing works this hard: the Swooshes are treated rather than flat, the laces are rope instead of standard flat cord, and even the box carries the meat-grading theme through.

Forget the meaty title and concept, these are beautiful sneakers and they appear to be made with Grade-A materials. I’m sorry, I couldn’t help myself. This black-on-black addition with smoky overlays is definitely on the menu — I mean radar.
