Despite their 3-0 start to the season, Nick Wright isn’t so sure Buffalo Bills stars Josh Allen and James Cook are on the same page.
Allen, the 2024 MVP, is off to a productive start this season with 786 passing yards, 114 rushing yards and 11 total touchdowns. Cook, on the other hand, has already rushed for 346 yards on 58 carries.
Even though Cook is averaging 6.0 yards per carry, the Bills have leaned on Allen’s rushing ability at the goal line. In fact, Allen has recorded two rushing touchdowns in each game this season.
During the latest episode of his “What’s Wright?” podcast, the FS1 personality suggested there could be friction brewing between Allen and Cook due to the coaching staff’s play-calling at the goal line.
“If I’m Josh Allen, every 1 yard touchdown I score, I’m buying James Cook a watch. James Cook at the end of the year should have 10 Rolexes,” Wright said. “He got his contract, so maybe that mitigates it a bit, but it’s a lot at this point.”

Is this actually a problem?
Fantasy football owners might be frustrated by Cook’s lack of touchdowns this season, but there’s zero reason to believe he’s annoyed with Allen.
During the 2025 season, Cook led the league in rushing yards (1,621) and had 14 total touchdowns. One year earlier, he had 1,009 rushing yards and 18 total touchdowns for the Bills.
As long as Buffalo’s offense continues to churn out yards on the ground, Cook will get his scoring opportunites.
