Have we seen the last of Joey Bosa in the NFL? It's starting to look that way.
Bosa, a former Defensive Rookie of the Year, played for the Los Angeles Chargers from 2016-2024 before signing with the Buffalo Bills in 2025. He currently has 372 tackles, 77 sacks and 22 forced fumbles in his career.
Despite having 29 tackles and five sacks for the Bills last season, Bosa is currently a free agent.
While on the "Murph & Markus Show" this week, San Francisco 49ers star Nick Bosa commented on his older brother's future in the NFL. When asked if Joey will return for the 2026 season, Nick replied: "Joey might need to start training if that’s going to be the case."
Nick added that fans shouldn't expect to see Joey compete in the NFL this fall.

Is Joe Bosa's NFL career finished?
Back in June, ESPN insider Adam Schefter suggested that Bosa's NFL career is over.
“It is more likely than not that Joey Bosa has played his last NFL down. Could a situation like the 49ers come along that entices him enough to come out and play again? Absolutely. We saw it happen with Philip Rivers, so you never know when a player is fully done and when he’s not done. But I think if the Niners wanted to pair those two together, it probably would have happened already," Schefter said, via Sportsnaut. "I think if Joey Bosa wanted to play football, it probably would have happened already.”
Barring a sudden change of heart, it sounds like Bosa is more than OK with quietly stepping away from the gridiron.
