NFL referees appeared to miss a “blatant” penalty on Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce on Monday night.
The Chiefs hosted the Broncos on ESPN’s “Monday Night Football.” Kansas City took down Denver, 31-10, to open up the season with a victory. One of those scores came on a rushing touchdown by Patrick Mahomes.
But did the Chiefs get away with a clear penalty on the touchdown?
It looks that way. Replay showed Travis Kelce getting away with a blatant hold as his star quarterback found the end zone. How did the refs not see this?

Unsurprisingly, NFL fans were not shocked, as the Chiefs have gotten away with a lot of apparent penalties and beneficial calls over the years, throughout their Super Bowl-winning dynasty.
Rate The Refs was among those calling out the Chiefs.
“Travis Kelce gets away with a hold on this touchdown run from Mahomes. Rules analyst claims this is a tough one for the refs to see that’s why they didn’t call it,” they wrote on X.
Mahomes, meanwhile, found a lot of confidence from that play
Mahomes said that he got a lot of confidence, coming off an injury, to be able to rush for a 15-yard touchdown score.
“Physically, I think that’s the moment,” Mahomes said postgame. “I want to get some of these passes down the field a little bit more — I think that’ll help me out mentally and kinda get back in the rhythm of things. That was definitely the moment, physically, to say all this work has paid off. I didn’t feel anything. It’s still a process, I got to still keep getting better and better, but this is obviously a great first week.”
Ultimately, he found the end zone, in part, due to a missed holding penalty, but the Chiefs will obviously take it.
